Watermelon Sugar Redux
I woke up late that Sunday morning. On my chest was the book, In Watermelon Sugar, a favorite book from my adolescence. I think about living in watermelon sugar and how each day of the week the sun shines a different color, certainly a calming way of being, like escaping into a meditation practice. I turn on the news and note how this world is also surreal where love and horror intermingle in what some might call a fallen civilization where everything is made of watermelon sugar, no different than it was back in the 1960s where wars were unwanted. I wish things were different.
sunny day now
how we can taste goodness
power sadly reigns
